The town's growth was fueled by the fertile soil of the Yellowstone Valley, which transformed it into a thriving agricultural community. Nowhere Better to See History Up Close

The Treasure County Museum offers a captivating journey through time. Housed in a historic building that once served as the county jail, this museum is a treasure trove of local history and artifacts. Its exhibits showcase the area's Native American heritage, early settler life and the evolution of agriculture in the region. From vintage farm equipment to meticulously preserved photographs, the museum paints a vivid picture of Hysham's past. The knowledgeable staff and volunteers bring the exhibits to life with their stories and insights, making each visit an educational adventure. 

The Yucca Theater was built in 1931 by brothers David and Jim Manning and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After years of non-use, the theater was renovated back to its original look. The entire building consists of the theater in the front and the previous residence of the Mannings in the rear. The architectural style is very unusual for Montana. David Manning designed the theater to look like the buildings he had seen in the southwest. The back of the building houses a display of antique dresses, uniforms and equipment from Treasure County veterans of World War II and items of local family history. Plays and other entertainment are scheduled throughout the year.  The theater is open upon request to visitors of the Treasure County Museum.

Hysham's proximity to the Yellowstone River offers a wealth of recreational opportunities. The river's gentle currents make it ideal for fishing, canoeing and kayaking, allowing visitors to explore the scenic beauty of the Yellowstone Valley at a leisurely pace. The Issac Homestead, located nearby, adds a historical touch to the river experience, offering a glimpse into the area's past. Additionally, the river's banks provide perfect spots for picnicking, bird watching or simply soaking in the breathtaking Montana landscape.

At the heart of Hysham is the beloved BW Bar & Grill. This local institution serves hearty Montana fare with a side of small-town hospitality. If you are craving a classic burger, this joint won't let you down. The namesake BW Burger is served with all the essentials on a ⅓ lb. patty, sourced locally from Cowboy Meats in nearby Forsyth.
