BOYES

Henry Boyes arrived in Montana from England in 1886 at age 20. Little did he know when he squatted on and later homesteaded a claim on Cow Creek that the nearby town would be named in his honor. The community of Boyes developed with the creation of the post office in 1906 and the town's permanent establishment at the head of Scott Creek in 1910. Supported by farmers and ranchers, Boyes was moved in 1931 to be closer to US 212 between Broadus and Belle Fourche, South Dakota.
